Aromatherapy for Anxiety Relief

Are you suffering from anxiety? You’re not the only one. We live in a stressful and fast-paced world. Everybody seems to have many things to do and think about. Unfortunate events happen around us causing unbalanced emotions that lead to anxiety. There is a strong feeling of uncertainty and we feel overwhelmed. Our physical, mental and emotional health are affected. In severe cases, anxiety can also hinder our daily life and activities.
It is important to know what to do when we are suffering from anxiety. The good thing is that there are many ways to address anxiety nowadays. Some people take medicines while some undergo therapy. Different wellness practices like meditation and yoga are believed to be effective in reducing stress and anxiety.
Essential oils have been used for many years as a natural remedy to relieve stress and anxiety. Aromatherapy is the practice of inhaling the scent of essential oils to improve well-being. Essential oils can be inhaled, or applied to the skin to promote feelings of peace, calmness, and relaxation. Using a diffuser has also become a popular way to use essential oils for stress and anxiety.
TOP ESSENTIAL OILS FOR ANXIETY

  1. Lavender
Lavender is probably the most popular essential oil that promotes relaxation. Lavender is commonly used in aromatherapy because of its anti-inflammatory properties. This essential oil can help relax the muscles. Lavender also has the ability to lower blood pressure and heart rate, thus calming the nerves. The scent of lavender essential oil promotes quality sleep. Mixed with a carrier oil, lavender can simply be applied to the temples or wrists to relieve feelings of stress and anxiety. It can also be used for a relaxing massage or added to a diffuser for a calming and soothing ambiance.
  2. Peppermint
Peppermint essential oil can provide relief from stress and depression because of its refreshing nature. Its aroma helps improve mental clarity and boost energy levels. Inhaling a few drops of peppermint essential oil is a great pick-me-up and can immediately improve mood. It can also be mixed with Epsom salt for a warm bath or a stress-relieving foot soak.
  3. Frankincense
The calming and soothing properties of the aroma of frankincense essential oil are the reasons why it is often used in spiritual ceremonies around the world. Frankincense essential oil is also believed to possess anti-depressant properties. It can help uplift the spirit by releasing negative emotions that cause anxiety. Just like any other essential oils, frankincense can be mixed with a carrier oil for topical application. It also works best when diffused during meditation because it helps clear the mind.
  4. Orange
Orange essential oil has a strong citrus scent that is known to bring joy and positive energy. The uplifting fragrance of orange essential oil can help fight stress and anxiety. Diffusing orange essential oil creates a refreshing ambiance. For an instant stress-relief remedy, put a drop of orange essential oil on your palm and inhale.
  5. Eucalyptus
The cooling effect and strong minty aroma of eucalyptus essential oil are perfect for fighting stress. This powerful essential oil can boost energy by stimulating the mind and body. Rub a few drops of eucalyptus essential oils to temples, wrists or feet to help reduce stress and anxiety. It can also be mixed with Epsom salt for an aromatherapy bath.

Labor Day Weekend and Rosemary Essential Oil

Wishing everyone a pleasant and safe Labor Day Holiday Weekend. Each year, Americans and Canadians celebrate Labor/Labour Day on the first Monday of September. Labor Day is a day intended to honor workers and offer a day of relaxation.
Though I’m glad that this coming Monday is Labor Day, this extended weekend will partially be a “working” weekend for me. Read below to learn how I use Rosemary Essential Oils to stay alert, focused and energized as I work from my home office.
With Labor Day typically falling right around the start of school, I don’t remember ever being taught about the history or depth of meaning of the holiday.
Rosemary Essential Oil for Concentration while Working or Studying:
Labor Day marks a time when students and teachers say goodbye to summer and rev up for school. Fall also earmarks a busier workload for quite a few professions. This year, for many of us, this is all happening, “virtually”. Our ability to focus can be even more challenging while working and learning from home.
Look to Rosemary Essential Oil as the oil of choice when you need help in focusing, concentrating and recalling what you learn for extended periods.
Rosemary Essential Oil, Peppermint Essential Oil and Spearmint Essential Oil are all energizing oils. Combine Rosemary and one or both of the mints in a diffuser as a powerful combination for staying alert and focused. If studying and working has you stressing, try combining Rosemary with calming Lavender Essential Oil. Experiment with uplifting and energizing Orange Essential Oil as well. Cypress Essential Oil is also an exceptional oil for helping to stay clear-thinking and focused. Be sure to follow all safety precautions for each essential oil that you use.
